Everyday Experiences

So, today on my way home I realized people really aren't all that considerate or smart for that matter. I've had a few run ins with some real winners:

1. A lady would not move over so I could grab the bar to hold on while the train was moving. So, I was forced to balance myself on a moving train that starts and stops very suddenly. Not a good combination!

2. A lady was less than 2 feet away from me chewing and chomping her gum like a cow grazing in a field except for we were in a crowded train at 5 pm.

3. Today it was 80 degrees out and the train that I was on had the heat on and the air off. So a crowded train + 80 Degree weather + heat = not a happy Lindsey

Another thing that I will never understand why do girls think its cute to wear a corset and a skirt? I've seen my fair share here, maybe it's just a chicago thing? I hope not!

That's all for now!

Transportation

Transportation

Where to begin? I have NEVER really used public transportation frequently like I have this week and will in the future. I rode the train for the first time by myself the other day. To some this doesn't sound like anything to comment about. For me, this is HUGE! So I will List my points as follow:

1. The ticket station at the train stop is a hard task. I never remember which direction the ticket goes in! On my first time, I guess my card had expired and I tried at least 5 times to get it to work. Needless to say it never did work! And I made myself look like a crazy person.

2. I really enjoyed taking the brown line it has a great view of downtown!

3. When riding the train and you sit in the seat that is making you sit the wrong way from the way the train is going it feels like you're riding the Racer at Kings Island since you are actually going backwards!

4. If you have the unfortunate opportunity to not find a seat which is very usual during those peak times you get to stand. This is a complete balancing act, which I am not good at. That is why I almost landed into the lap of a fine older man.

5. Also during those peak times if you do get a seat, you are probably going to be squished in and halfway on top of the person on your side.

6. On Saturday, we were coming back from downtown when the train suddenly stopped and said that "we might loose power due to a fire on the track" We were delayed for 15-20 minutes. I never thought I would hear those words concerning a train!

7. Today, Monday, I left work at 5 p.m. Little did I know that the train station was going to be packed and the trains were already full. Everyone packed on there like sardines. You couldn't move there were so many people!! Talk about claustrophobia.

Well that's all for now folks!

Welcome to Chicago!

Well, here goes nothing! I've always wanted to start a blog and I'm sure no one will actually read this, but oh well. We recently moved to Chicago, from Cincinnati, Ohio. You'd be surprised how many people are like "oh yeah Cincinnati, where is that at?" I've only been here a few days and I feel like I've already learned so much! So I will list a few points:

1. People always dress in layers, and they typically have more layers than needed. (Today, I learned I didn't have enough layers on because I froze!)

2. There are people everywhere! and I mean everywhere. Walking down my street I will see quite a few people and I don't live on a main road.

3. Weather changes hourly. It was warm yesterday morning and cold yesterday afternoon. Its hard to keep straight!

Well, that's all for now, I'm sure I'll post again soon!
